The Party Continued.....
One of the birthday boys, Paul Obester, and his wife Sandy invited the crew
over to continue the celebration. This was held on a cool, blustery Sunday night at
their digs on the edge of the Left Coast of the United States at a secret location
someplace halfway between Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

Paul opened the first bottle of Champagne, a magnificent bottle of H. Billiot Fils
non-vintage Brut Champagne. This was accompanied by some mildly spicy, garlic
seasoned with shrimp.
Also accompanying the bubbly was some Serrano ham along with seasoned grissini wrapped
with Alexia's Favorite Prosciutto.
The second Champagne was a 1988 Pierre Moncuit, a less lively wine, but with an
interesting bready, toasty character.

"Some grissini with Prosciutto, my dear?"
"No thanks."

Two marvelously toasty Chardonnays accompanied the starter...Ridge 1998 Santa Cruz
Mountains and Mulderbosch 1997 from South Africa.
There was an artichoke bottom on the right and a little puff pastry/wild mushroom combo on
the left.

A couple of well-aged Spanish reds accompanied the Catalan Pork Roast with figs:
1964 Castillo Ygay Rioja Gran Reserva Especial
&
1962 Torres Gran Coronas Black Label (made in those days of Tempranillo and Mataro...no
Cabernet!).
Paul displays the 1964 Ygay.

Alexia is a big fan of roasted pork.

This was wonderful!

Despite their age, these two oldsters, like the birthday boys, are alive and kickin'.
