Constance invited us to join she and hubby Mister Motorola
with some friends at Burlingame's venerable Benihana restaurant.
On a Saturday night, we headed to this Old Bayshore institution (for the first
time ever).
We brought a nice bottle of Champagne...Egly-Ouriet's "Cuvee Connie."
There's a "server" and then a chef or grill
meister at each Benihana 'table.'
The server takes everyone's order and then, after a while, the
grill-meister/showman comes out and leads us through a circus of culinary
savoir-faire.
We began with a small bowl of soup.
Chef Ricardo worked on the fried rice for everyone, making a gastronomical
'sculpture' on the grill for Connie.
Then it's time to serve the rice.
And even something simple such as offering a bowl of rice is a show.
Then we were ready for a sip of Heitz' magnificent Grignolino
Rose.
And this bottle had a special label on it featuring our friend
Kareasa striking a typical Kareasa Pose.
Chef Ricardo was working on veggies and shrimp.
Connie's brother Mike was enjoying the show.
Chef Ricardo prepared a "volcano" of onions.
Jo and Connie discussed plans for later in the evening at the "W" in
S-F.
This 2005 Burgundy was delicious and especially good with the steak.
Then it was time for Connie to open some birthday presents...
Kareasa found the perfect card...
Who knew Chewie had his own line of birthday cards?
Kareasa sent along some Colombian coffee...
Connie also received some Kona Coffee...Hula Girl.
And she received some wedding photos featuring the Mafia Don who performed the
marriage ceremony for Connie and Mark.
Cassandra told us she's got plenty of muscle to strut on the dance floor later
in the evening....
And soon it was past my bedtime and these kids needed to head off to The City.
