OUR BUSCHENSCHANK DINNER WITH RACHEL &
CHRISTOPH NEUMEISTER
We visited our friends at the Neumeister winery in Straden in
July of 2005. As their fancy restaurant, Saziani, was closed for vacation, we
visited a nearby Buschenschank, Neubauer.
This is an informal place, serving simple foods with their "homemade"
wines.
We found the food to be really good, despite its simplicity.
This was a delightful platter of a mildly smoked ham which had been rubbed with
a truffle coating!

Various little pots of "schmalz" are a local specialty.
Rachel Neumeister shows off some smoked fish and a salad platter.
Rachel had two of her sisters visiting from Australia and they seemed to enjoy
the local fare.

The "bean salad" is amazingly delicious.
My nephew Brian enjoyed the meats, of course, but also is a big fan of cheeses.
The Neubauer wines are good, though they are not Neumeister!!!
