Dinner at ALBERGACCIO DI CASTELLINA May-2012

I appreciated all the kitchen work the Masi's did while I was visiting Tuscany,
so hosting them at a favorite restaurant in their neighborhood was an idea we
made happen in 2012.

We arrived around 8:30 and had a nice table set for us...

As we sat down, the kitchen sent out some little fried vegetables to whet our
appetites with a sip of bubbly...

Apparently Giulia was shocked that we weren't drinking Krug or
Bollinger.

Francesco is the sommelier and co-owner, with his wife, Sonia,
the chef.

An Amuse Bouche arrived from the kitchen....

We toasted with a nice bottle of Riesling from the Alto
Adige...Kuenhof's Kaiton.

A starter of Steak Tartare...very fine!
Someone else opted for a little pasta starter...

Fava beans for the sauce, by the way.

More pasta.
Nice Chianti, too.

This time Giulia was not quite so offended by the wine
selection.

We also enjoyed a new discovery...a Vino Nobile di
Montepulciano.

2007 Montemurcurio.
A julienne of vegetables and the black item is actually onions which were cooked
in a fire under ash!

Afterwards...some sweets...

And so the evening was ending...

Sonia and Francesco, with a staffer on the left.

The Masi family knows a favorite gelateria in Castellina and they were open
late...

They make their own, too.

And that was a lovely way to end a Thursday night in
Toscana!!!
