On a sunny weekend in June, wine experts from around the country gather in
San Francisco to evaluate more than 3000 wines from around the world.
Organized by Carol Seibert and Bon Appetit Magazine's Anthony Dias Blue, this
year's event was held at the Hotel Nikko.
Over the course of three days, the judges taste and evaluate something like
3,900 wines. Our intrepid leader, "Andy" Blue frequently reminds
the judges of how much work they have ahead of them and that this is the
"largest" wine tasting on the West Coast.
Apparently, as I am constantly reminded by the avalanche of unsolicited e-mail I receive
regarding this topic:
SIZE MATTERS.
Though we should probably begin at the beginning, please click on the photo
below of the lovely winner of this year's
Purple Palate
Prize,
Ms. Rebecca "Tannin Management" Chapa.

Andy says we have the "best palates in the business" on the panel
of judges.
