Now we perused the various chili stands...
These kids were definitely "full speed ahead."
The Smith clan...
Them firemen make a chili registering several "alarms."
Their motto is "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of our kitchen."
These folks know chili, chapter & verse, from homicidal habaeros to
McKinley School even had a stand here at Roosevelt...
McKinley's Haunted House is October 26 & 27 this year.
R.I.P. stands for "Really Intense Peppers", if I'm not mistaken.
One entrant came up only with the name of a stand, but they were still picking a
peck of peppers while the chili cook-off was taking place.
That was one clever way of not having to clean up any pots or pans!
I don't know if he was having a taste of his Who Doooogie,
Whoa Nelly or what...
Many people flipped for this kid's chili.
This Devil's nickname is "Hot Stuff."
And for good reason!
I couldn't determine if those lining up for this chili were sinners or
On a Lapule (Sunday) in 'Okakoba (October), these guys said:
"Mahalo nui loa na ho'olaule'a me la kaua" as they won The People's
Choice award for best chili.
Then they told everyone:
"Mahalo nui loa." ("Thanks a ton!")
We had some international flavor to the cook-off...
Who knew that Queen Elizabeth had sent some loyal subjects to be her emissary
here in Burlingame???
Mayor Terry Nagel is one of the brighter 'lights' in Bulblingame.
"Watt do you think of my chili?" she asked tasters.

This crew had a great presentation and they won this category in the judging!
This fellow should have been looking for the Tums or Rolaids stand...
One stand had Three Generations of Chili Chefs!

City Council-members Cathy Baylock and Chef Russ Cohen.
This kid hit one out of the park with her rendition of grand-slam chili.
And, no, she didn't say "Pull my finger."
They're keeping their recipe under lock and key...
Lindsay was justly proud of Dad.
"Beans, Beans, The Musical Fruit,
The More you Eat, The More You Toot."
These old farts were singing that!
Pete Varma enjoyed tasting lots of chilis...
This stand made the grade...

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Meanwhile, Amy Sanford was busy asking this youngster about
judging the chili cook-off in about 20 years, or so.
Soon it was time to announce the winners of the various categories...
Best named stand was Poppy's Pepto Dismal.
This fellow had the hottest chili...
These kids won the award for "Best Presentation."
WHO HAD THE BEST CHILI?
ALL EYES WAITED.
Third Runner-Up was Yowza Wowza.
The Second Runner-up for Best Chili was the Firehouse Chili crew...
...which caused all sorts of alarms to go off around the yard.
