BRIAN'S EURO-ADVENTURE WITH UNCLE
Brian and His Uncle.
Brian and His Uncle. Again.
Giulia knew this place where we had lunch.
But Angela knew a gelato place...
We then went to see the Porcelino.
Rub the nose for good luck...
Uncle knew of Vivoli's, so we had to have a second gelato...
Pointing towards Chianti from Fiesole's Heart Attack Hill.
We returned to the Masi estate and found Piero ready to fire up the grill for
We had a change in the weather in the middle of the night...
We drove to Montepulciano the next morning for some winery
We drove back to the Masi estate stopping in Greve in Chianti.
This gal, Gabriella, makes great salame!
That evening we had pizza at a local community fund-raiser.
It was a warm night, so we had to stop for gelato!
The next day we visited Riecine and Collelungo and then headed
for lunch in Castellina-in-Chianti.
After lunch, we had to stop for gelato...this was a great
place, by the way.
Probably the best gelato of our trip!
Back at the Masi's, Brian again took care of opening the bottles.
The next day we packed the car and drove to Piemonte, stopping in Pisa first.
A few hours later...Piemonte!
Winemaker Luca Currado and Brian.
Michele Currado, his grandpa Alfredo and his sister Giulia.
After dinner we walked up to the town square...and upon returning, Alfredo
opened a nice, old bottle...
1982 Vietti Barbaresco.
Brian became accustomed to tasting wines much older than he!
Saturday morning we went to the market in Alba...
Back at the Vietti winery, we met Carlo, Beatrice, Giovanna
and Antonio of The Crazy Milanese...Alfredo showed us around and we opened some
Carlo & Beatrice with Luciana.
For lunch we ambled down to the Locanda del Centro, in beautiful downtown
Antonio and Carlo are "busy."
Carlo had ordered "Ravioli al Vino" and they pour some red wine into
the bowl to have a "sauce."
Pasta al ragu...the Barbera from Cavallotto was very good.
The main plate was rabbit and we had a lovely Parusso Barolo.
Back to Vietti for more wine tasting.
Alfredo insisted we open a 1982 Barolo.
So we did!
The Crazy Milanese returned to Milano after a wonderful day
We, then, rounded up the circus and headed for the hills...and Pizza!
The Edelweiss pizza place is the Currado's favorite. It's in Serravalle,
about 20 minutes' ride from Castiglione.
