Alessia's Sunday DIM SUM - ALCATRAZ- FRESCHET DINNER

Having a nice snooze Saturday night, we awoke Sunday morning
to meet
Mark & Connie at the Hong Kong Flower Lounge for a Dim Sum
"Brunch."

Mark and Connie, with Mariuccia, Stevie-D, A-Dall and Mister Barolo.
We arrived early, so we didn't have the usual hour of waiting for a table...

We made a few dim sum selections and ordered some seafood...

Connie poured some 2011 J.J. Prum Riesling Kabinett.

Mark, who's a pianist, knows how to play Chopsticks!

Alessia is learning to play Chopsticks.

J.J. Prum knows how to play Riesling!

Connie Poon and Luciano Sandrone.

Char Siu Bao.
Barbecued Pork Buns...

Shaomai (Pork Dumplings)

Connie ordered a rice dish for us...

Mariuccia preferred a fork to the chopsticks.
Molto piu facile.

We had some Lo Mai Gai or Sticky Rice in a lotus leaf...

Shrimp!

Xiaolong bao (Shanghai Dumplings)

Alessia was fast!

Fresh Dungeness Crab.
Connie posed with the Piemontese celebrities as we departed.

Luciano, Connie Poon, Mariuccia.
And then we motored up north to San Francisco for a few tourist stops...

A look in the rear-view mirror as we headed up the hill on Lombard Street.

Hyde & Lombard Streets...
A typical San Francisco sight!
And soon we we traversed Hyde and were snaking down Lombard's twisty, winding
road!

We made it down safely and found a parking spot on the steep
hill below to have a look.

Alessia, bounding with energy after all that Dim Sum, was the first one up the
hill.

Team Sandrone.
We then drove to Telegraph Hill to see Coit Tower.

Some of us saw it better than others.

There's a nice view of Lombard Street.
As we stood there, Mariuccia noticed a swarm of Dragon Flies buzzing around like
little helicopters...

The Golden Gate Bridge shrouded in fog.

Coit Tower in the background with Stevie-D's buddy Chris Columbus standing guard
in front.
From Coit Tower, we found parking near Pier 39 so we could stroll around
Fisherman's Wharf and over to Pier 33 for our Alcatraz boat.
As we ambled to Fisherman's Wharf we saw a Milanese trolley car.

We saw a sign urging them to do something they've been doing
every day since they arrived in San Francisco!

We saw lots of boats at the Wharf as well as some fishermen.

As we walked around the Wharf, Stefano nearly got his claws on
a crab!

As we walked towards Pier 33 for our Alcatraz visit, Stefano and Alessia
entertained the idea of renting bicycles...

...but only for a moment.
You never know who you'll meet in San Francisco...

You might wind up meeting this character...and boy, was he wound up!

Someone, apparently, told this fellow to go fly a kite. And so he did.

We pulled some strings to get Alessia and Stevie-D to be able to pose near this
guitar.

And so we ambled along Herb Caen Way, along the Embarcadero.

The next available boat to Alcatraz was more than 2 weeks away!
Good thing we had tickets!!

Me and Mariuccia.

We were on the boat and sailing over to Alcatraz.

Alcatraz translates to the "island of strange birds"...
The Welcoming Committee was waiting to meet Stefano!

They seemed to also have a room ready for Stefano when we got there.

Ecco!

And soon, those of us who were not locked up, waited for the
next boat back to civilization.

There's a lovely view of The Golden Gate...

...and a beautiful vista of San Francisco.
And we ambled back to the car on a sketchy route along the bay...
